The women's volleyball team began their weekend road trip with a 3-0 sweep over the Fleming Phoenix. The Wolves came out strong, taking the first two sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-16. Fleming showed signs of life in the third set, but Algonquin's serving preasure proved too much to for Fleming to handle. The Wolves racked up 17 aces in the match, sealing the third set 25-21. Grace Pate led the way with eight kills and three aces, while Carys Thenthory contributed seven aces and two blocks.
In their final regular-season game, the Wolves faced a tough challenge against the 13-4 Durham Lords. The opening set was a nail-biter, with Algonquin trailing 24-22 before Natasha Lauzon and Grace Pate delivered back-to-back kills to tie the score. Pate continued her clutch performance, scoring the final two points to secure a 27-25 win for the Wolves. The second set was equally intense, going point-for-point before Durham edged out a 31-29 victory. Riding that momentum, the Lords took control and won the next two sets to claim the match. Pate led the Wolves again with 13 kills and two aces, while Lauzon recorded seven kills and six aces. Riley Lancia also had a standout performance, finishing with eight kills, five aces, and two blocks.
The Wolves finished the regular season with a 12-6 record, good enough for 4th place in the OCAA East Division. Up next for the team is a crossover match on Saturday February 8th against the 5th seed from the OCAA West, the Cambrian Shield.
