Born in Wales and raised in Canada, Stephen Ball was a standout Goalkeeper for the Carleton University Ravens from the late 1980’s to early 90’s. He returned as an assistant coach, specializing in goalkeeping, at Carleton University on the Men’s side for 3 years (1996, 1997, 2001) after finishing his 5 year career as a player. Ball also helped to found the Men’s soccer alumni association chapter at Carleton (CSAA) and ran many local college and university indoor tournaments throughout the 1990’s. He has been both a head coach and an assistant in the Ottawa Premier League, on both the men’s and women’s sides with clubs including St. Anthony’s SC, South Nepean United SC and the Ottawa Falcons SC. As a teacher in the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB), Ball also coached women’s soccer at the high school level for many years at Philemon Wright High School in Gatineau (2002-2009).
Ball spent several years teaching overseas in Asia and the Middle East. He currently works as an educator in the WQSB at Pierre Elliot Trudeau Elementary School. He joined the Algonquin Women’s Soccer program as an assistant to Head Coach Basil Phillips in 2018.
