WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END AT THE HANDS OF THE HAWKS

WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END AT THE HANDS OF THE HAWKS

On Saturday October 18th, the Wolves women's soccer team played host to the Humber Hawks in the OCAA quarter-final.  The winner would move onto the OCAA Final 4 with the loser's season coming to an end.  The Wolves advanced to the quarter-final after a 4-nil win over Fanshawe.  As for Humber, they took down the Cambrian Shield 6-2 after finishing 3rd in the OCAA West with a 5-2-3 record.

Prior to the game, the 2025 OCAA league award recipients were handed out.  Ashley Woodcock received her East All-Rookie Team award, followed by Paige King, Olivia Bradley, Kassandra Da Cruz and Alex Aubin receiving their 1st Team All-Star certificates.  Last but not least, Basil Phillips was presented with the OCAA East Coach of the Year Award.

The game was evenly matched with both teams carrying possession. Humber was able to break the tie in the 35th minute when Kaylese Callender slipped one just under the crossbar.  Humber doubled their lead in the 75th minute off the foot of Micayla Santaguida.  The Wolves pushed to try and get back in the game but were unable to find a goal and eventually fell 2-nil.

Despite the loss, the team had a tremendous season finishing with a 9-1 record, their best since the Algonquin Thunder days.  It is a promising future for the young squad who had 10 rookies on the roster this season.

We would like to thank everyone for supporting the team all season long.  We look forward to seeing you back at the Algonquin Sports Field next season!
