CHLOE COGGIN JOINS THE PACK FOR THE 2025-26 SEASON

CHLOE COGGIN JOINS THE PACK FOR THE 2025-26 SEASON

With 11 graduating seniors departing the women's basketball program, there is room for some fresh blood on the 2025-26 roster.  Get to know their newest recruit Chloe Coggin!

Chloe is a 5'11 guard / forward from Thunder Bay Ontario who will be studying business at Algonquin in the fall.  She played her high school basketball at St. Ignatius High School and her club ball with the Thunder Bay Wolves.

We asked her a few questions to get to know her more as a player

Talk to us about your playing style.  What are your strengths on the floor?

"My playing style is characterized by my height and length, which gives me an advantage both inside and outside of the key. I am versatile, allowing me to adapt to different situations during the game. My agility and quick movements help me navigate the court effectively, whether I am driving to the basket or defending against opponents. Additionally, being a great team player means I focus on collaboration and making plays that benefit the entire team, ensuring we work together to achieve success on the floor.

I believe my strength has always been my work ethic. I started basketball in grade 9 and quickly realized that I needed to work extra hard during practices, on my own time, and during the off season, if I wanted to play at an elite level and work towards my goal of playing post secondary."

What made you choose Algonquin?

"I chose Algonquin College because my first interaction with Jaime, the coach, was so positive and welcoming. When he first approached me when I was playing JUEL he asked me if I was interested in playing post secondary basketball. From that point, we stayed in touch, and he told me a bit more about the team and what he was looking for. He talked about the positive dynamic of the team and that is what drew me in. I have also watched Jaime's coaching style and the success of the team, and I like how his coaching style is similar to what I am familiar with."

What are you most looking forward to?

"What I am most looking forward to is building friendships and connecting with my teammates. I also look forward to challenging myself and expanding my skills."

Chloe and the rest of the Wolves will get to work at the ARC in early September to prepare for the upcoming season.  The OCAA will be releasing the 2025-26 schedule in June.  Keep an eye on AlgonquinWolves.com for more details to come.
