
For the last time in the regular season, 11 Wolves women's basketball graduating seniors took the floor in an Algonquin uniform. Prior to the game, head coach Jaime McLean took the time to speak about each of them and thank them for their contributions to the program. This years graduates is a special group that has achieved a lot together, including back to back undefeated regular seasons in 2022-23 and 2023-24, OCAA bronze in 2023, OCAA silver in 2024 and just recently the #1 ranking in the CCAA. With just two regular season games remaining, we are excited for what is to come in the near future for this group.

After the ceremony and a few waterworks it was time to play some basketball. The undefeated Wolves were taking on the 2-10 George Brown Huskies. The Wolves came out of the gate a bit sluggish, but were able to find their bearings in the 2nd half of the 1st quarter to open up a 20-10 lead after the 1st 10 minutes. Sydney Moore led the way offensively with 5 points. Libby Hirst chipped in with 4.
The Wolves locked things down defensively in the 2nd quarter holding the Huskies to 3 points and just 9.1% from the field. Piper Hatherall and Cianah Miller were the offensive stories in the 2nd quarter combining for 14 of the Wolves 16 points. The Wolves led 36-13 going into the break. Hatherall was the games leading scorer at the half with 9 points.
The Wolves continued to lock down defensively in the 3rd quarter holding the Huskies to single digits once again to extend their lead to 31 going into the final frame. The Wolves would cruise to a comfortable 70-31 win.
Graduating senior Piper Hatherall had her best performance of the season finishing with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Cianah Miller was also in double figures with 10 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. Dasia McDonald, Libby Hirst and Kate Dahmer each had 8 points.
The win improves their record to 12-0, clinching the top seed in the OCAA East. The Wolves will finish off the regular season on the road next weekend with games on Friday February 7th at 6:00 pm in Belleville against the 2nd place Loyalist Lancers and Saturday February 8th at 1:00 pm in Kingston against the 2-11 St. Lawrence Surge.
