BATTLE OF THE ST. LAWRENCE

BATTLE OF THE ST. LAWRENCE

The Algonquin Wolves women's and men's basketball teams are excited to be competing in the 2nd edition of the Battle of the St. Lawrence this pre-season.  The Brockville Blazers basketball club began running the event last year when it featured the Guelph Gryphons and Bishop's Gaiters.  This year's event will see the Algonquin Wolves take their OCAA East rival Loyalist Lancers.

The Blazers put on the event for the Brockville community and look to showcase some of their local talent who move on to play at the post-secondary level.  This upcoming season there will be two Brockville alumni on the Wolves women's basketball roster in 3rd year guard Chloe Lapointe and 2nd year guard Kaylee Moorhouse.

It should be a good pre-season test for the Wolves.  Last season the men's team split the season series with the Lancers winning 92-90 in Belleville and dropping a 80-78 decision at home.  The women's team swept the season series on route to an undefeated regular season and an OCAA silver medal.

The game will take place on Saturday, September 28th with the women's game tipping-off at 5:00 pm and the men's game to follow at 7:00 pm.  The event will take place at Brockville Collegiate Institute

Tickets will be sold in advance at the price of $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 14 or $20 per family.

For more information on the event keep an eye on the Brockville Blazers Facebook Page.

The Wolves basketball teams will be using the event as a kick-off for their 2nd annual Shoot for the Cure fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Canada.  Should you wish to support you can do so at the link below:
