The 2024-25 OCAA Basketball schedules was officially released on June 21st. It promises to be an exciting season for the Wolves. Let's take a look at what's ahead.
The men's team will start the season with a big matchup against cross-town rival La Cité on Saturday October 19th at 1:00 pm on the road. Both teams will head down the 417 the following weekend for back to back doubleheaders against George Brown on Friday and Centennial on Saturday. The first chance to catch the Wolver at home at the ARC will be on Friday November 1st when the Georgian Grizzlies come to town. Tip-off for the women's game will be at 6:00 pm with the men's game to follow at 8:00 pm. The first semester will come to close for the women's team on Saturday November 23rd when the Wolves will welcome the Seneca Sting into the ARC. As for the men, they will finish the semester the same way it started when they will take on the La Cité Coyotes on Friday November 29th at 7:00 pm at home. Both teams will get back to OCAA action on Saturday January 11th at the ARC against the Centennial Colts. The regular season will come to a close on Saturday February 8th in Kingston against the St. Lawrence Surge.
East will meet West on the February 15th / 16th weekend for the first round of the OCAA playoffs. The winners will move on to the quarter final on February 22nd or 23rd and the Final Four will take place between February 28th and March 2nd with the host going to the highest remaining seed. The eventual champions will represent the OCAA at the CCAA National Championships from March 12th to the 15th. The women's tournament will be hosted by St. Thomas University in Fredricton NB. The men's tournament will be held at Vanier College in Montreal, QC. The OCAA holds the wild card this year which means 2 teams from Ontario will represent the OCAA at the Nationals.
The men's team are hungry to bounce back after a down year in 2023-24. On the women's side, the team has high hopes after finishing the regular season undefeated and coming just 1 win away from an OCAA championship. With a large part of the core returning and some interesting additions added this off season, coach Jaime McLeans squad is motivated to get back to the championship game and is excited about the potential opportunity to host the Final Four in March.
