OCAA Officially Announces 2023-24 Basketball Schedules

OCAA Officially Announces 2023-24 Basketball Schedules

The OCAA officially announced the 2023-24 basketball schedules.

There are high expectations for the Wolves women's team after the success they had in 2022-23.  The team finished the regular season with a perfect 14-0 record, earning the OCAA East championship.  They came away with a bronze medal after taking down the Fanshawe Falcons at the OCAA championship in Niagara.  Coach Jaime McLean's squad will be returning most of the roster and will have a few key additions on the court this fall.

On the men's side, the Wolves will be looking for the spark that allowed them to win 6 games in a row in the middle of the 2022-23 season.  Wolves fans can expect a mix of key returning players and some newcomers looking to prove themselves at the OCAA level.

Let's take a look at some of the notable dates on the 2023-24 calendar.

Friday October 27th vs Centennial

The Wolves will kick off the regular season at home against the Centennial Colts.  Last season the women swept the season series and the men split with each team winning on their home floor.  The women's game will tip-off at 6:00 pm with the men's game set to follow at 8:00 pm.

Saturday November 18th vs Durham

This is a key matchup for our women's team as the Lords gave them a run for their money in 2022-23.  Durham's only two losses on the season came at the hands of Algonquin with one of the matchups being decided by only 7 points.  The women's game will tip-off at 4:00 pm and the men's game at 8:00 pm.

Friday December 1st vs La Cité

The men's team will finish off the first semester with a date with cross-town rival La Cité.  It is always a fun environment when the Coyotes come into the ARC as bragging rights are on the line.  The game is set to tip-off at 7:00 pm.

Friday February 2nd vs Georgian

The Wolves will play their final home games of the regular season on this date.  This will be a chance to honour graduating seniors who will be playing their final home regular season game.  The women's game will start at 6:00 pm with the men's game to follow at 8:00 pm.

Playoffs

The OCAA has moved to a Final 4 format for the playoffs beginning this season.  The Final 4 will be hosted by the highest remaining seed after the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.  The crossover round will be held on Saturday February 17th and the ¼ finals on Saturday February 24th.  Winners of the ¼ finals will move on to the Final 4 on the weekend of March 1st to 3rd.  The OCAA champion will move on to the CCAA National Championship from March 13th to 16th.  The Women's championship will be hosted by Lakeland College (ACAC) and the men's championship will be hosted by Holland College (ACAA).
