Libby Hirst ROY

The Algonquin Wolves Women's Basketball roster is made up of 7 rookies and 4 sophomores, making them one of the youngest teams in the OCAA.  Despite the youth the team had a lot of success this season.  They finished with a 7-1 regular season record, good for 2nd place in the OCAA East.  The Wolves would pull off two playoff wins at home earning them a spot in the OCAA final 4.  There is no doubt that this team has a bright future.  With 7 rookies, coach Jaime McLean and his staff had a difficult choice for Rookie of the Year.  Ultimately one rookie stood out above the rest and that was Libby Hirst

The forward from White Lake Ontario averaged 10.3 points and 7.1 rebounds in her first campaign with the Wolves.  Her top performance of the season came on the road at George Brown on February 26th.  #11 scored 24 points and collected 12 rebounds while shooting an efficient 62.5% from the field.

Congratulations to Libby Hirst, the Algonquin Wolves Women's Basketball Most Improved Player!

The dynamic guard from Nepean Ontario led the team on both ends of the floor.  She led the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game while also addine 4.6 rebounds per game.  She was also force on the defensive end averaging 3.9 steals per contest, good for 2nd in the OCAA.  #4 had her best performance of the year in one of the biggest moments.  On March 12th the Wolves hosted the Lambton Lions in the OCAA ¼ finals.  McDonald would come away with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 steals on route to a 66 to 45 win.

Dasia's accomplishments were noticed by the OCAA.  She earned herself a spot on the All-Rookie Team as well as a spot on the 1st All-Star Team.
