After their ¼ Final win on day 1 the Wolves were set to take on the PacWest champions Langara Falcons with a spot in the National Final on the line. Langara took down the host St. Thomas Tommies 1- nil in their ¼ Final on Wednesday.
Langara proved to be a tough test in this one as they gave the Wolves all they could handle. The game was scoreless through the first 45 minutes. In the 53rd Langara broke the tie when their captain Zegerra Rodriguez put a seeing eye shot into the back of the net. Algonquin trailed for the first time in the tournament however they have proven many times this season that they are not bothered by adversity and this game was no different. They would find the equaliser in the 71st minute when Connor David scored his 2nd of the tournament sending a ball off his left foot from just under 30 yards out into the back corner of the goal. David wasn't done there. 12 minutes later he would score his 2nd of the game and 3rd of the tournament when he pounced on a Jaeden Mercure blocked shot in the box and scored the eventual game winning goal. No surprise here, Connor David was named the Wolves player of the game.
Algonquin is moving on to the CCAA National Championship gold medal game on Saturday November 9th. The championship game will be a rematch of the OCAA Final from 2 weeks ago. The Wolves will look to avenge their loss to the Humber Hawks and claim a 3rd National Championship in program history since the Algonquin Thunder won gold back in 2002 and 2006. The game is set for 3:00 pm AST, 2:00 pm EST on Saturday November 9th at Grant Harvey Field on the campus of St. Thomas University in Fredericton, Newbrunswick.
