After a strong performance against Niagara in the opening round, the Wolves will hit the road for the quarter-final on Sunday February 23rd. Algonquin is in for their toughest test yet, taking on the Humber Hawks in hostile territory. The Hawks finished the season at the top of the OCAA West standings after going undefeated. They also hold the #1 spot in the CCAA National rankings.
Humber earned their way to the quarter-final with a 113-67 win over La Cité in the opening round. The Hawks present a well rounded offense with 10 players scoring 4.8 points per game or higher. They are led by 4th year forward Malik Grant and 5th year guard Jalen Menzies who average 16.2 and 14.5 points respectively.
Algonquin seems to be peeking at the right time, playing their best game of the season against Niagara in the opening round. They shot 53% from the field and 52% from 3 in the opening round while holding Niagara to just 38.7% and 33.3%. They will need a similar performance on Sunday in order to take down the top team in the OCAA.
