Women's Basketball vs Sheridan Bruins

Our women's team has just completed their 3rd undefeated regular season in a row.  They will enter the playoffs as the #1 seed in the East and ranked #1 in the CCAA national rankings.  The Wolves biggest strength is their defence, giving up just over 38 points per game, more than 12 points better than the closest team in the OCAA.  The Wolves are led by 4th year guard and 2 time CCAA All-Canadian Dasia McDonald.  The Nepean, Ontario native leads her team in scoring with 16.4 points per game and assists with 5 per game.  McDonald also leads the OCAA in steals averaging 4.6 per game and in 3 point percentage knocking down 40% of her shots from behind the arc.  She is also 2nd in the league in overall field goal percentage at 55.1%.  Although McDonald is at the top of most teams scouting report, there are many other weapons on the Wolves roster that make them a tough team to play against.  Out of the 16 players on the roster, 11 of them are in their 3rd year or more and many have been through the bronze and silver medal runs from the last two seasons giving them the experience they need to perform when the lights shine their brightest.

The Sheridan Bruins finished in the 8th spot of the OCAA West standings with a 3-13 record.  Don't let their record fool you, the West is traditionally a stronger division.  The Bruins have been in some close games throughout the season.  They picked up a win over the 5th seeded Fanshawe Falcons on the final day of the regular season to earn their spot in the playoffs. Sheridan presents a balanced attack, with 9 players averaging over 2.9 points per game.  As a team they average 56.9 points per contest while giving up 68.8.  They are led by 1st year point guard Lyric Shallow who averages 9.3 points per game.

The game will tip-off at 1:00 pm at the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre.

Men's Basketball vs Niagara Knights

After sweeping the final road trip of the season, our men's team finished with a 12-6 record securing the 4th seed in the OCAA East division.  Tesloch Luk finished the year 2nd in the OCAA in scoring at 19.9 per game.  5th year guard Simon Desta was not far behind at 14.9.  The Wolves rely heavily on those two on the offensive side of the ball, but also get meaningful contributions from the rest of the roster with 8 players averaging more than 3.5 points per game.  The Wolves will need Ted Braden, Devonte Brooks and Haven Holder to have big games inside as the Knights have two bigs measuring in at 6'8 who average between 7 and 9 points each per game.

As for the Knights, they finished 5th in the OCAA West with a 10-8 record.  They are led by their two wings Skylar Samuel and Reheem Dennis who average 29.5 out of the 78.3 points they put up.  The Wolves will need to keep a close eye on Dennis as he shoots an efficient 39.5 % from beyond the arc and knocks down just under 5 per game.  The Knights have finished strong down the stretch winning 8 of their last 10 contests.

Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm at the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre
