WEEK 21 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 26TH TO MARCH 3RD) 

The Wolves women's basketball team took part in the OCAA Final 4 this past weekend in Sarnia Ontario.  The team earned the silver medal after taking down the St. Clair Saints before losing to the hometown Lambton Lions in the final.  Despite being at the top of each teams scouting report, Dasia McDonald still managed to stuff the stat sheet.  in the semi-final against the Saints she finished with 12 points and an impressive 16 rebounds including 5 steals and 5 assists to help her team move on to the championship game.  Despite the loss in the final, McDonald had an impressive performance with 15 points, 6 steals and 5 boards.  Her performances earned her a spot on the tournament All-Star team.

WEEK 20 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 19TH TO 25TH) 

The Wolves women's basketball team are heading to the OCAA Final 4 thanks to a 66-58 win over the Mohawk Mountaineers this past weekend.  Prior to the game players from both teams received their OCAA awards.  Dasia McDonald received her 3rd straight OCAA 1st Team All-Star award to go along with her 2nd straight OCAA East Player or the year and OCAA East Defensive Player of the Year award.  The 3rd year guard proved why she was deserving of the acolades, finishing the game with 10 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 5 assists!  The team will now head to Lambton College in Sarnia Ontario for the Final 4.  First up for the Wolves is a semi-final matchup with the St. Clair Saints on Saturday at 7:30 pm.  You can catch the action on OCAA LIVE

WEEK 19 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 12TH TO 18TH) 

The Wolves women's basketball team are moving on to the OCAA 1/4 Finals thanks to a 62-46 win over the Conestoga Condors!  2nd year guard Chloe Lapointe finished the game with 6 points and 7 rebounds while also making some high impact plays down the stretch that do not end up on the stat sheet.  Chloe's efforts earned her the women's basketball hard hat given out by the team to the player of the game.  The Wolves will take on the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday at 2:00 pm at the ARC with a spot in the OCAA Final 4 on the line.

WEEK 18 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 5TH TO 11TH)

The Men's Volleyball team kicked off the OCAA playoffs in style by taking down the Niagara Knights 3-1 in the qualifying round.  This marks the 2nd straight year that Algonquin has eliminated Niagara from playoff contention.  The entire Wolves team played a solid game from start to finish, but 2nd year middle Martin Janega stood out from the pack finishing with 8 kills on 15 attempts.  The Ottawa native also added 2 blocks and 2 digs to his performance.  Next up for the Wolves is a matchup with the #2 seed in the West, the Fanshawe Falcons.  First serve is set for 3:00 pm on Saturday February 17th in London.  You can catch the action on OCAA Live.

WEEK 17 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 29TH TO FEBRUARY 4TH)

The men's volleyball team finished off the regular season on the road this past weekend when they took on Georgian on Friday and Seneca on Saturday.  After dropping a 3-0 decision to the Grizzlies, the turned their attention to the Seneca Sting who beat the Wolves in straight sets back in November.  The match did not get off to a good start with Seneca taking the first 2 sets but  Algonquin showed their resilience, winning the next 3 and taking the match 3-2.  That marks 2 weekends in a row now where the Wolves have comeback from a 2-0 deficit.  3rd year setter Jacob Matheson played big all weekend for the Wolves finishing with a total of 75 assists, 50 of which came in the win over Seneca.  It's playoff time!  After finishing 3rd in the OCAA East Algonquin will take on the Niagara Knights who finished in 6th in the West.  This is a rematch from last years first round playoff matchup.  First serve is set for Saturday February 10th at 2:00 pm at the ARC!

WEEK 16 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 22ND TO 28TH)

The Wolves men's volleyball team played their final 2 home games of the regular season this past weekend when they hosted the Durham Lords and Fleming Phoenix.  After going down 2 sets to none on Friday the Wolves battled back to win in 5 sets over the Lords.  Jeff Commerford had a big game for Algonquin finishing with 2 aces and 12 kills with a .476 kill percentage. 

Prior to the game on Saturday the team had the chance to honour its 5 graduating seniors.  Commerford, the 5th year senior, took advantage of his final regular season game at the ARC finishing with 1 block, 1 ace and 17 kills with a .654 hitting percentage against his former team.  The Wolves will hit the road for a huge weekend against the Georgian Grizzlies and Seneca Sting.  The results from this weekend will go a long way in detrmining the seeding going into the OCAA playoffs.

WEEK 15 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 15TH TO 21ST)

With the end of the regular season fast approaching, the Wolves men's volleyball team travelled to Belleville this past weekend to take on the Loyalist Lancers.  Algonquin came away with a 3-1 win thanks in large part to the play of 4th year senior Pras Jeyapalasingham.  Pras finished with 8 kills, 2 blocks and 1 ace while posting a hitting percentage of .571.  The Wolves currently sit in 3rd in the OCAA East with an 11-3 record.  They hope to finish the season strong and push for a top 2 spot going into the OCAA playoffs.  Next up for Algonquin is a home date with the Durham Lords on Friday and the Fleming Phoenix on Saturday for the final home weekend of the regular season.

WEEK 14 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 8TH TO 14TH) 

The Wolves men's basketball team hosted the Seneca Sting on Friday to kick off the 2nd semester.  The game was competitive throughout, but Algonquin eventually dropped a 87-71 decision.  4th year guard Simon Desta had a big game for the Wolves scoring a team high 28 points on 9/15 from the field and 6/10 from 3 to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  Algonquin will be back in action at home this weekend for 2 big games with playoff implications against the Loyalist Lancers on Friday and St. Lawrence Surge on Saturday.

WEEK 13 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 27TH TO DECEMBER 3RD) 

Jansen Balmaceda from the men's basketball team receives the final Wolves Athlete of the Week honours of 2023.  On Friday December 1st Algonquin hosted crosstown rival La Cité.  This was a big game for the Wolves after losing to the Coyotes in overtime a few weeks prior.  Algonquin came away with a 90-65 win to end the first semester on a high note.  Balmaceda was a huge contributor off the bench for Algonquin finishing with 15 points while shooting an efficient 6-7 from the field and 3-4 from beyond the arc.  The Wolves are off until January 12th when they will host the Seneca Sting.

WEEK 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 20TH TO 26TH) 

The men's basketball team was on the road in Barrie on Friday night to take on the Georgian Grizzlies.  Despite the loss, 4th year forward Matteo Mongroo had a big game for the Wolves stuffing the stat sheet with 16 points and 12 rebounds on an efficient 6 for 7 from the field.  Mongroo carried the momentum into Saturday when he collected 17 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 7 for 9 from the field in a 69-68 loss to the Seneca Sting.  The Wolves will look to end the first semester with a win when they host crosstown rival La Cité on Friday night.  It promises to be a good one as the Wolves dropped an overtime decision to the Coyotes on the road a few weeks ago.

WEEK 11 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 13TH TO 19TH) 

The men's volleyball team had a perfect weekend on the road taking down Durham and Fleming in straight sets to improve their record to 7-1.  Connor Finnie had a big weekend for the Wolves collecting 11 kills and 5 blocks with a .667 efficiency over 2 games.  Algonquin has gotten off to a good start this season.  They will be tested at home this weekend when they take on the 3-4 Seneca Sting on Friday and the 8-0 Georgian Grizzlies on Saturday.

WEEK 10 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 5TH TO 12TH)

The Wolves men's basketball team travelled to crosstown rival La Cité on Friday followed by a home matchup with the George Brown Huskies on Saturday.  Despite finishing the weekend 0-2, the Wolves battled hard in both games.  2nd year Guard CJ Gallaza had a big weekend for his team.  On Friday he finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  #15 followed it up with an even better performance on Saturday finishing with a game high 24 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assits.  He also shot an efficient 4-7 from behind the arc.  The Wolves will look to get back on track at home this weekend.  They host Fleming on Friday night before Durham comes to town on Saturday.

WEEK 9 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 30TH TO NOVEMBER 4TH)

The Wolves men's volleyball team took advantage of their early season home stand going 4-0 to start the year.  This past weekend they picked up 2 convincing wins over the Loyalist Lancers and the Canadore Panthers.  4th year Left Side Mahmoud Abdelaziz had a big weekend for Algonquin totalling 14 kills and 3 aces with a .550 hitting percentage.  So far this season Abdelaziz ranks 2nd in the OCAA in hitting percentage at .455.  On top of his performance on the stat sheet, Mahmoud's leadership was a big factor in the teams success, securing back to back 3 set wins.  The early season success has the Wolves ranked 12th in the CCAA National rankings.  The will hit the road for the first time this weekend to take on George Brown on Friday and Centennial on Saturday.

WEEK 8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 23RD TO 29TH) 

The Wolves men's volleyball team played their 2nd straight home game on Saturday when they took on the George Brown Huskies.  The crowd at Algonquin was treated to a nail bitter with the Wolves taking the 5th and deciding set 15-12.  2nd year Libero Malcolm Spence finished the game with 10 digs and scored some key points that helped the team earn a hard fought win.  His efforts earned him game MVP and Wolves Athlete of the Week honours.  Algonquin is back in action on on Friday and Saturday when they host the Loyalist Lancers and Canadore Panthers.

WEEK 7 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 16TH TO 22ND)

After finishing 4th in the OCAA East standings, the Wolves men's soccer team were OCAA playoff bound.  On Wednesday the hosted the 5th seed Durham Lords.  The teams matched up once in the regular season with Algonquin coming away with a 1-0 win in Oshawa.  The playoff matchup was another close one with the Wolves taking the win 2-0 in front of their home crowd.  Co-captain Cristian Aviles-Molina had both goals for the Wolves.  The Win meant a trip to Kitchener to take in the West #1 seed Conestoga Condors.  The Condors scored an early goal in the 3rd minute, but their early lead didn't last long as Cristian scored in the 7th minute to tie it.  The game remained close throughout.  Conestoga scored in the 59th minute and added 2 more in the 90th to come away with a 4-1 win.  Aviles-Molina scored all 3 playoff goals for the Wolves.  He was also named an OCAA East 1st Team All-Star.

WEEK 6 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 9TH TO 15TH) 

The men's soccer team finished off the regular season with a 5-1 road win over the Centennial Colts.  2nd year midfielder Connor David was a steady force for the Wolves providing much needed energy and work rate for his team.  His efforts ear him this weeks Athlete of the Week honours.  It's playoff time.  The 4th seeded Wolves will host the 5th seeded Durham Lords on October 18th and 7:00 pm in a win or go home battle.  

WEEK 5 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 2ND TO 8TH) 

The men's soccer team hosted the St. Lawrence Surge on Tuesday in a battle that had big implications in the OCAA standings.  The matchup ended in a 0-0 draw after playing 90 minutes that was filled with opportunites on both sides.  Rookie keeper Nicholas Parry saw his first action at home and he did not dissapoint.  Parry made a number of key saves throughout the game and especially down the stretch to help his team earn the draw.  Algonquin currently sits in 3rd in the OCAA standings.  They will finish their season on the road this weekend with matchups against the Seneca Sting and the Centennial Colts.  The results from this weekend will help determine if Algonquin will be in a position to host a home playoff game on Wednesday October 18th.

WEEK 4 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 25TH TO OCTOBER 1ST) 

The men's rugby team has made their return to the OCAA.  With every player on the roster in their 1st year of eligibility, Algonquin is easily the youngest team in the OCAA.  Although the results in the win column have not been there so far, the team has gained valuable experience that will serve them well as they continue to compete hard week after week.  Luke Flores has been a consistent competitor for the Wolves.  He currently leads the team in points at 11 with 1 try and 3 converts.  His pick 7 against the Georgian Grizzlies earned him the teams Geoffy award (Player of the Game) and also earns him Wolves Athlete of the Week honours.  The team will be back in action on October 15th in Oshawa against the Durham Lords.

WEEK 3 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 18TH TO 24TH) 

The Wolves travelled to Oshawa and Peterborough this weekend to take on the Durham Lords and the Fleming Phoenix.  Going into the weekend, the Wolves had yet to concede goal, and this weekend was no different.  On Friday night the Wolves scored the games only goal in the 70th minute to take the win from the Lords.  Saturday wasn't as close as they walked away with a 9-0 win over the Phoenix.  1st year Alessandro Vivolo has been a big part of the Wolves success this season.  This past weekend he helped lead the back line to two more shutouts while playing every minute in both matches.  The Wolves hope to keep up their strong defensive play this upcoming weekend when they take on the Seneca Sting on Friday and the 1st place George Brown Huskies on Saturday.

WEEK 2 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 11TH TO 17TH)

The Wolves men's soccer team put their undefeated record on the line in a rematch with the Sault Cougars this past weekend.  The team came away with an impressive 13-0 road win.  1st year striker Gershom Dupuy had a big weekend for Algonquin scoring 3 goals adding to his total of 5 on the season.  He is currently tied for 3rd on the OCAA scoring list.  Gershom has been a nice addition to the men's soccer program, not only because of his play on the field.  Her consnstently carries himself in a mature and professional manner and has been an exemplary student-athlete.  The men's soccer team hits the road again this weekend for 2 big matchups with the Durham Lords and Fleming Phoenix.

WEEK 1 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 3RD TO 10TH) 

The Wolves men's soccer team kicked off the 2023 OCAA season in fine fashion earning wins on back to back days against the Sault Cougars and Cambrian Golden Shield.  Michael Iliopoulos had a strong start for the Wolves scoring 2 goals in the opener on route to an 11-0 win over the Cougars.  On Sunday against Cambrian, the Wolves 3rd year veteran added an insurance goal in the 89th minute helping his team secure a 2-0 win over the Golden Shield.  Mikey's strong start has him in 2nd on the OCAA scoring list. His performance has also earned him OCAA and CCAA athlete of the week honours.  The Wolves will hit the road this upcoming weekend for a rematch with the Cougars.

2022-23 SEASON

 

WEEK 21 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 27TH TO MAR 5TH) 

The final Wolves athlete of the week goes to... you guessed it... Dasia McDonald from our women's basketball team.  The Wolves were in Welland Ontario this past weekend for the OCAA Provincial Championships hosted by Niagara College.  On Thursday night at the awards banquet McDonald was named an OCAA East 1st Team All-Star, OCAA East Defensive Player of the Year, OCAA East Player of the Year, and CCAA All-Canadian.  Did you get all that?  The team took down the host Niagara Knights in Friday's 1/4 final by a score of 63-53.  Dasia finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals.  In Saturday's 1/2 final she was named player of the game for her 6 points and 10 rebound performance.  Unfortunately it was not enough as the Wolves fell to Lambton 53-38.  Onto the bronze medal game against the Fanshawe Falcons.  Dasia put together her best scoring performance finishing with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals while also earning a 56-52 win and a bronze medal.  To top things off she was named to the Championship All-Star team.

WEEK 20 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 20TH TO 26TH) 

The men's basketball team travelled to Hamilton on Saturday to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers in the OCAA qualifying game.  The Winner would earn a spot in the Provincial Championships the following weekend hosted by the St. Clair Saints.  Algonquin went into the game as large underdogs after finishing 7th in the OCAA East.  They took on a Mohawk squad that finished 2nd in a strong Western Conference.  Algonquin was also without the services of starting point guard and leader Nathan Garcia after he suffered an injury the week prior.  Rookie guard CJ Gallaza went off in the first half for the Wolves knocking down 4 threes and scoring 14 of his 16 points.  The Wolves took an 8 point lead in the 2nd quarter and trailled by only 1 at the half.  Unfortunately they could not sustain the momentum in the 2nd half and fell 96-77.

WEEK 19 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 13TH TO 19TH) 

After finishing off the regular season with a 13-5 record (3rd OCAA East) the Wolves were set to take on the Niagara Knights with a birth in the Provincial Championships on the line.  Algonquin put together a dominant performance coming away with a 3 set win earning the right to pack their bags for London.  Connor Finnie had a huge game for the Wolves finshing with 13 kills and 3 blocks including an impressive .632 hitting percentage.  They are now getting set to take on the Humber Hawks (2nd OCAA West) in the 1/4 finals hosted by Fanshawe College.  First serve is set for Thursday February 23rd and 1 PM.  You can catch the action on OCAA Live.

WEEK 18 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 6TH TO 12TH) 

The Wolves finished off the OCAA volleyball regular season on the road this past weekend.  On Friday night they took on the George Brown Huskies followed by a matchup with the Centennial Colts on Saturday.  Algonquin ended up splitting the weekend with a 4 set win on Friday and a 3 set loss on Saturday.  1st year middle Martin Janega had a big weekend for the Wolves managing 12 kills while hitting .407 over 2 games.  Martin also collected 2 aces and 3 blocks for the Wolves.  The Wolves finished off the regular season with a 13-5 record, good for 3rd in the OCAA East.  They will host a first round Cross-Over match against the Niagara Knights this Saturday at 12:30 PM at the ARC.

WEEK 17 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 30TH TO FEB 5TH) 

The Wolves played their final regular season home games this past weekend.  On Friday night the team took on the Georgian Grizzles who are ranked 1st in the OCAA East and were ranked 5th in the CCAA national rankings.  This was a big game for the Wolves who faced their first real test of 2023, and they passed with flying colours coming away with the 4 set victory.  With no time to rest, the team took on the Canadore Panthers on Saturday.  This was another big game, as the Wolves and panthers were battling for the 2nd spot in the OCAA East standings.  After a back and forth afair, the Panthers came away with a 5 set victory.  Jacob Matheson had a big weekend for the Wolves.  The 2nd year setter managed 7 kills, 3 aces, 4 blocks and 74 assists over 2 games.  The Wolves will head to George Brown and Centennial this weekend to finish off the regular season.

WEEK 16 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 23RD T0 29TH)

The Wolves were at home for the first time in 2023 on Saturday January 28th when they took on the Centennial Colts.  Algonquin managed to increase their winning streak to 6 games after a 74-64 win over the Colts.  2nd year guard Nathan Garcia had a big game for the Wolves finishing with 16 points on 7/10 from the field.  He also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists and was a force on the defensive end.  The win improves the Wolves record to 7-6 on the season which gives them the same record as the Georgian Grizzlies who currently sit in 5th place in the OCAA East standings.  The team will hit the road this weekend to take on the Seneca Sting on Friday and a big matchup with Georgian on Saturday.

WEEK 15 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 16TH TO 22ND) 

After starting the 2nd semester on the road at Fleming, our Wolves volleyball teams were back at home this past weekend to take on the Seneca Sting and Loyalist Lancers.  Our men's team came up with 2 wins in straight sets, thanks in large part to the dominant performances by 2nd year middle Connor Finnie.  On Friday Finnie led the Wolves in scoring with 7 kills, 7 blocks and an ace.  He followed up the performance with 2 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces including the game winning ace in the final set.  Over the weekend he finished with a combined hitting percentage of .285.  The wins improved the Wolves record to 10-3, good for 2nd in the OCAA East standings.  They will be back in action this Friday at 8:00 PM at home when they take on cross-town rival La Cité.

WEEK 14 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 9TH TO 15TH) 

The Wolves men’s basketball team started off the second half of the year with a matchup against Cross-town rival La Cité.  The two teams met on December 2nd with the Wolves taking down the Coyotes 85-74 to finish off the first half of the season.  Algonquin won the 2nd matchup in more convincing fashion, taking down the Coyotes 78-47.  CJ Gallaza caught fire in the 2nd quarter scoring 15 points in the frame.  The 1st year guard finished with 19 points on 8 for 12 from the floor in just 16 minutes of action.  The Wolves will look to build on their momentum when they hit the road this weekend to take on the Loyalist Lancers and St. Lawrence Surge.

WEEK 13 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 28TH TO DEC 4TH) 

The final wolves athlete of the week award of 2022 goes to Topaz Kana from the men's basketball team!  The Wolves took on cross-town rival La Cité on Friday night in a must win game going into the break.  Algonquin eventually came away with a hard fought 85-74 win thanks in large part to the offense provided by the 1st year guard from Ottawa, ON.  Kana would finish with a game high 26 points, knocking down 7 3's.  He also added 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  The Wolves will take a 2 game winning streak into the break.  The 2 teams will meet again to start the 2nd half on January 11th at La Cité.

WEEK 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 21ST TO 26TH)

Jeff Commerford from the men's volleyball team is the week 12 Wolves athlete of the week! On Saturday November 26th, the Wolves hosted the Fleming Knights at the ARC.  Fleming proved to be a difficult opponent to put away, taking the Wolves to a 5th and deciding set.  Algonquin eventually came away with a 15-12 win in the 5th set to take the match 3-2.  The 4th year senior had a huge game for the Wolves finishing with 16 kills , 2 aces and 10 digs.  Jeff also finished the 5th set on a 5 point serving run to put the game away against his former team.  The win improved the teams record to 6-3, good for the 3rd spot in the OCAA East standings.  The Wolves will finish off the 1st semester Saturday December 3rd at home when they take on the Centennial Colts at 6 PM.

WEEK 11 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 14TH TO 20TH) 

Carter Normand from our men's basketball team is the Wolves week 10 athlete of the Week!  The Wolves took on the Georgian Grizzlies on Friday night at the ARC.  The Wolves would drop their 5th game of the season 94-83.  Despite the loss, Normand was a huge bright spot offensively for Algonquin scoring a career high 32 points on 10/15 from the field and 8/11 from beyond the arc.  The 2nd year guard also added 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals to the stat sheet.  His impressive performance also earned him OCAA Star of the Week and CCAA Male Athlete of the Week Honours! This is the 2nd week in a row that a Wolves athlete is nominated as a star of the week with Libby Hirst from the women's basketball team getting the nod last week.  Algonquin will look to get back in the win column this weekend on the road when they take on the Durham Lords and Fleming Knights.

WEEK 10 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 7TH TO 13TH) 

Pras Jeyapalasingham from our men's volleyball team is the Wolves week 10 athlete of the week!  After playing their first five games on the road, the Wolves were finally back at home to take on the Durham Lords on Friday and the George Brown Huskies on Saturday.  The 3rd year middle from Ottawa, Ontario had a big weekend for the Wolves racking up 9 kills and 5 blocks on Friday with a .615 kill percentage.  Pras' performance was topped off with what experts are saying was one of the hardest swings in the OCAA this season.  Pras' performance helped lead the Wolves to a 3 set victory over the Lords.  On Saturday he put together another strong performance collecting 4 kills, 4 blocks and an ace in a 2nd 3-0 victory in as many days.  The men's volleyball team improved their record to 5-2, good for 3rd place in the OCAA East.

WEEK 9 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 31ST TO NOV 6TH)

Sydney Moore from our women's basketball team is the Wolves week 9 athlete of the week!  After starting the season 2-0, Algonquin welcomed the Seneca Sting on Saturday November 5th.  The 3rd year guard from Arnprior had an impressive performance stuffing the stat sheet with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.  #6 also had a solid game defensively leading to 2 steals and helping her team hold the Sting to 39 points.  Sydney played a big part in the Wolves 64-39 win over Seneca.  The team remains undefeated with a 3-0 record.

WEEK 8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 24TH TO 30TH) 

The basketball season kicked off at home this past weekend with the Wolves welcoming the SLC Surge and the Loyalist Lancers.  The team currently sits at 1-1 after a 70-59 win over the Surge on Friday night and a hard fought 75-71 loss to the Lancers on Saturday evening.  Rookie Guard CJ Gallaza had an impressive start to the year.  On Friday, the Ottawa native finished with 16 points and 3 boards, including some big shots down the stretch.  Gallaza followed up his performance by scoring in double digits for the 2nd consecutive day.  He finished with 14 points and 3 boards, including some big buckets in the 4th quarter to get the Wolves back in the game against the Lancers.  The Wolves will look to bounce back this weekend as we host the Seneca Sting on Saturday November 5th.  The women's game tips off at 4:00 PM and the men's game will follow at 6:00 PM.

WEEK 7 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 17TH TO 23RD) 

Jeff Commerford from our men's volleyball team is the week 7 Athlete of the Week!  The OCAA volleyball season kicked off last weekend and the Wolves got off to a successful start going 2-0 on the road.  #11 played a big role in both wins.  On Friday night Jeff finished the game with 12 kills and 6 service aces in a 3-2 win over the Durham Lords.  The 4th year senior had another solid performance on Saturday finishing the game with 7 kills and 3 service aces in a 3-0 win over the Loyalist Lancers.  After 2 games he currently sits at the top of the OCAA leaderboard for services aces and 3rd in the league in kills.  The Wolves are back on the road this weekend as they take on cross-town rival La Cité on Saturday October 29th at 7:00 PM.

WEEK 6 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 10TH TO 16TH) 

Jeremy Trefry from our men's soccer team is the Wolves week 6 Athlete of the Week!  On Saturday October 15th the 5th year senior played his final regular season game in an Algonquin uniform.  The Centre-Back and team captain had a strong game leading the Wolves to their 6th clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 tie with the Durham Lords.  #22 has had an impressive career earning 4 OCAA East division championships, 3 OCAA East best defensive team awards, 2 OCAA silver medals and a 2018 OCAA Championship All-Star selection.  Trefry will look to add to the list over the next 3 weeks as the Wolves look to make a run in the OCAA playoffs.

WEEK 5 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 3RD TO 9TH) 

Critsian Aviles-Molina from our men's soccer team is the Wolves week 5 Athlete of the Week!  On Saturday, the Wolves took down the Sault Cougars 13-0 at home.  The Wolves 2nd year midfielder had an offensive explosion, finding the back of the net 5 times!  His performance on Saturday moves him in to a tie for 8th on the OCAA scoring list.  With the win, the Wolves remain in the 3rd position of the OCAA East standings leading up to their final regular season game on Saturday October 15th against the Durham Lords.

WEEK 4 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 26TH TO OCT 2ND) 

Courtney Comeau of our women's Rugby team is the Wolves week 4 Athlete of the Week!  The team travelled down to Oshawa this past weekend for their 2nd tournament of the season, finishing the weekend with a 4-2 record.  The Wolves 1st year player better known as 'Country' played a large role in the success of the team.  She scored 3 tries throughout the tournament, including the game winning try in the final game of the weekend giving the team a 5-0 win over the Humber Hawks.  With 1 regular season tournament to go, the Wolves currently sit in the 2nd spot of the OCAA standings.  

 

WEEK 3 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 19TH TO 25TH) 

The Wolves men's soccer team went 2-0 in week 3 with wins against Centennial (5-1) and Fleming (3-0).  #7 Latif Shaif had a huge weekend for the Wolves.  The Rookie striker found the back of the net 3 times, scoring 2 against the Colts and 1 against ther Knights.  Latif is a big reason why the Wolves currently sit at 5-1, good for 1st place good for 1st place in the OCAA East.

WEEK 2 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 12TH TO 18TH 2022)

It was a week of ups and downs for the Wolves men's soccer team.  The squad earned a hard fought 1-0 road win in Kingston against the St. Lawrence Surge on Thursday September 15th.  Rookie midfielder Oscar Forward scored the game winning goal in the 73rd minute.  The team would then drop a tight 1-0 game to the George Brown huskies at home on Saturday September 17th.  Aside from scoring the game winning goal against the Surge, Oscar played all 90 minutes in both games.  #12's performances this week earns him week 2 athlete of the week honours.

WEEK 1 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 5TH TO 11TH 2022)

 

It was a successful first weekend on the road for the Wolves men’s soccer team who ended the weekend 2-0 after a 1-0 victory vs the Cambrian Golden Shield on September 10th and a 3-0 victory vs the Sault Cougars on September 11th.  Rookie Centre-Back Cedrick Kenzong had a strong defensive presence all weekend long, earning him Wolves Athlete of the Week honours.
