WEEK 21 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 26TH TO MARCH 3RD)

The Wolves women's basketball team competed in the OCAA Final 4 this past weekend hosted by Lambton College in Sarnia Ontario.  3rd year guard Cianah Miller had a big weekend for the Wolves scoring in double figures in both games.  In the semi-final vs St. Clair she finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds while shooting an effecient 50% from the floor.  The Wolves took down the Saints 73-58 to move on to the championship game against the host Lambton Lions the following day.  Despite the loss, Miller was a bright spot for Algonquin scoring a game high 22 points and collecting 7 rebounds. Her efforts earned her Wolves player of the game and a spot on the tournament All-Star team.

HONORARY WOLVES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK 

An honorary Wolves Athletes of the Week award goes to the Wolves fans who made the 7 hour trip to Sarnia to suport their pack.  Despite being outnumbered by the hometown Lions fans, this group of family, friends and supporters were loud and proud all weekend long! 

 

WEEK 20 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 19TH TO 25TH) 

It was a big weekend for the women's basketball team as they hosted the Mohawk Mountaineers with a spot in the OCAA Final 4 on the line.  2nd year forward Piper Hatherall picked the right time to have one of her best games of the season scoring a game high 15 points on an efficient 6 for 8 from the field.  The St. Mother Teresa alumni also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists to the stat sheet.  The Wolves came away with a 66-58 win, punching their ticket to the Final 4 hosted by Lambton College in Sarnia Ontario.  First up is a matchup with the St. Clair Saints on Saturday at 7:30 pm.  You can catch the action on OCAA LIVE

WEEK 19 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 12TH TO 18TH)

After defeating the Mohawk Mountaineers in the first round of the OCAA playoffs, the Wolves women's volleyball team hit the road to Toronto to take on the top ranked Seneca Sting in the OCAA 1/4 Finals.  Despite the loss, 3rd year setter Gabbie Paquette had a solid game finishing with 15 assists, 9 digs and 1 ace.  The loss ends a successful 2023-24 campaign for the Wolves who qualified for the OCAA 1/4 final for the first time since the 2021-22 season.

WEEK 18 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 5TH TO 11TH)

After finishing 5th in the OCAA East, the Wolves women's volleyball team hit the road to Hamilton to take on the 4th seed in the West, the Mohawk Mountaineers in the first round of the OCAA playoffs.  Algonquin picked a good time to come up with one of their best performances of the year, upsetting the Mountaineers with a 3-1 win.  3rd year right side Natasha Lauzon stepped up big time, finishing with a team high 15 points, including 11 kills, 3 blocks and 1 ace.  She also added 12 digs on the defensive side of the ball.  With the win, the Wolves move on to the 1/4 finals against the Seneca Sting on Saturday February 17th at 1:00 pm in Toronto.

WEEK 17 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK ( JANUARY 29TH TO FEBRUARY 4TH) 

The women's volleyball team finished off the regular season on the road at Georgian on Friday and Seneca on Saturday.  This was a big weekend for the Wolves with playoff seeding implications on the line.  The long bus trip to Barrie, ON proved to be challenging for the team as they fell behind two sets to none to the Grizzlies.  Luckily the squad found their legs in the 3rd set and managed to win 3 straight to take the match.  1st year right side Grace Pate was huge for the Wolves finishing with 23 points, including 19 kills and 4 aces.  The win helped secure the 5th seed in the OCAA East.  This means a matchup with the Mohawk Mountaineers who finished 4th in the West in the 1st round of the OCAA playoffs.  First serve is set for 1:00 pm on Saturday February 10th in Hamilton.

WEEK 16 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 22ND TO 28TH)

The Wolves women's volleyball team played their final home games of the regular season this past weekend when they hosted the Durham Lords on Friday and the Fleming Phoenix on Saturday.  In the 2nd game of the weekend the team took the time to honour their 7 graduating seniors.  5th year Libero Emilie Menard was at the top of that list.  Menard has had an impressive carrer for the Thunder / Wolves women's volleyball program.  The Cornwall Ontario native proved her versitility in her final home game playing out of position for most of the game.  She finished with 5 kills and 4 aces for a total of 9 points.  She also had an impressive serving run of 6 straight points to end the first set.  Menard and the Wolves will finish off the regular season at Georgian and Seneca before turning their attention to the OCAA playoffs.

WEEK 15 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 15TH TO 21ST)

The women's basketball team improved their undefeated record to 10-0 this past weekend after taking down the Loyalist Lancers and St Lawrence Surge on back to back nights.  3rd year guard and 2022-23 All-Canadian Dasia McDonald had a big weekend for the Wolves posting back-to-back double-doubles.  On Friday against the Lancers she finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while leading her team to a 88-44 win.  On Saturday against the Surge she posted an impressive 22 points, 10 steals, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in a 77-41 win over the Surge.  Dasia's performances earned her OCAA Star of the Week honours.  The Wolves hit the road this weekend to take on the George Brown Huskies and Centennial Colts.

WEEK 14 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JANUARY 8TH TO 14TH) 

The Wolves women's basketball team remains undefeated after picking up a 64-38 win over the Seneca Sting to kick off the second semester.  The game was close at the half with the Wolves leading 25-21.  Algonquin came out of the locker room on a mission, outscoring the Sting 21-8 in the 3rd quarter and blowing the game wide open.  3rd year transfer Cianah Miller had her best game in a Wolves uniform.  She finished with 18 points on 7/12 from the field to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals.  The Wolves will look to keep their momentum going this weekend when they host the Loyalist Lancers on Friday and the St. Lawrence Surge on Saturday.

WEEK 13 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 27TH TO DECEMBER 3RD)

The final Wolves athlete of the week honour of the 2023 calendar year goes to Isabella Tourangeau from the Wolves women's volleyball team.  The Wolves travelled to North Bay to take on the Canadore Panthers on Saturday December 2nd to finish off the first semester.  Algonquin battled the Panthers but would eventually fall 3 sets to 1.  Tourangeau was a bright spot for the Wolves collecting 5 blocks, 1 kill and 1 ace for a total of 7 points.  The team will be back in action on January 12th when they travel to crosstown rival La Cité before returning to the Arc for a date with the Centennial Colts the following day.

WEEK 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 20TH TO 26TH)

The Wolves women's volleyball team hosted back to back games against the Seneca Sting and the Georgian Grizzlies this past weekend.  On Friday night Algonquin nearly pulled off an upset, losing 15-12 in the 5th set against the 8-1 Seneca Sting.  3rd year left side Faith Billaney played big for the Wolves collecting 14 kills and 14 digs on the night.  Billaney was equally as impressive on Saturday when she recorded 14 kills and 10 digs in a 4 set win over the Georgian Grizzlies.  The Wolves will play their last game of the first semester on the road at Canadore on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

WEEK 11 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 13TH TO 19TH)

The women's volleyball team took a trip down the 401 to take on the Durham Lords and Fleming Phoenix this past weekend.  On Saturday in Peterborough, the Wolves got back to their winning ways taking down Fleming in 3 sets.  1st year setter Ashley Adams made her first start in a Wolves uniform and she didn't dissapoint racking up 24 assists, 3 aces, 2 kills and 1 block to go along with 6 digs.  Algonquin is back at home this weekend for the final time in 2023.  On Friday night they will take on the Seneca Sting before the Georgian Grizzlies come to town on Saturday.

WEEK 10 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 5TH TO 12TH)

After two games on the road, the Wolves women's basketball team was back at home this past weekend to take on the George Brown Huskies.  Algonquin cruised to another dominant win taking down the Huskies 74-40.  Many players made significant contributions to the win, but none bigger than 3rd year forward Libby Hirst.  The White Lake Ontario native stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal while shooting an efficient 6-9 from the field.  The Wolves are back in action this Saturday at 4:00 pm when they host the Durham Lords.

WEEK 9 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 30TH TO NOVEMBER 4TH) 

The Wolves women's basketball team is off to a strong start this season.  They are currently 3-0 after picking up convincing wins over George Brown, St. Lawrence and Loyalist.  3rd year guard Dasia McDonald has been stuffing the stat sheet.  On Friday night she finished with 13 points, 9 steals and 4 assists in a 65-40 win over the Surge.  Dasia followed it up with 13 points, 6 steals, 9 rebounds and 5 assists on Saturday in a 55-35 win over the Lancers.  McDonald is showing why she was named a 2022-23 CCAA All-Canadian.  The Wolves sit in 2nd on the OCAA East standings and are ranked 14th in the CCAA national rankings.  The team will be back in action this Saturday at home when they take on the George Brown Huskies.

WEEK 8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 23RD TO 29TH)

The women's volleyball team started the season off strong with a home win over La Cité.  Fast forward to Saturday October 28th and another home matchup with the George Brown Huskies.  The Wolves took care of home court once again earning a 3-1 win.  5th year Libero Emilie Menard had an impressive performance with 23 digs.  Her stellar defensive presence helped lead the Wolves to their 2nd straight win of the season.  The team will be back in action at home this weekend.  On Friday they will host the Loyalist Lancers followed by a matchup with the Canadore Panthers on Saturday.

HONORARY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

On Friday October 27th the SA Athletics Department and the Women's Basketball team colaborated to host the first annual Shoot for the Cure game in support of Breast Cancer Canada.  Thanks to all of the hard work from the players and coaching staff and the generosity from their supporters, donations have now reached $4,693!  Head coach Jaime McLean and Senior Manager of Athletics and Recreation Tim Lee will be getting their hair cut for the cause at the next home game on November 11th.  

WEEK 7 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 16TH TO 22ND)

The Wolves women's soccer team competed in the OCAA playoffs this past weekend.  On Wednesday they travelled to Sudbury to take on Cambrian, who they had an 0-1-1 record against in the regular season.  The Wolves came away with a 2-0 win with both goals being scored by Samantha Jones.  The win meant a trip to toronto to take on the #1 seed in the West, the Humber Hawks.  Jones would add another against Humber as the Wolves gave the undefeated Hawks all they could handle but eventually lost 3-2.  The loss ends the Algonquin women's soccer season.  The team went on an impressive run winning their last 4 regular season games and picking up a playoff win.  There is a lot to build on going into next season.

WEEK 6 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 9TH TO 15TH) 

Our women's rugby team finished off the regular season with a 2 day tournament hosted by the Fleming Phoenix in Peterborough.  The team finished the weekend with a 3-1 record, picking up wins agains Conestoga and Humber on Saturday and Seneca on Sunday.  Morgan Payne was a force for the Wolves all weekend long.  The 2nd year forward started 3 out of 4 games and had a huge impact all weekend making a ton of key tackles and outworking her opposition.  She also scored the game winning try in a 10-7 win over Seneca to finish off the weekend.  The Wolves focus now turns to the OCAA championship tournament on Saturday October 28th in Belleville.  They will take on the Seneca Sting in the 1/4 final with the winner of that matchup taking on St. Lawrence in the 1/2 final.  

 

WEEK 5 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 2ND TO 8TH) 

Our women's soccer team finished off their most diffult stretch of the season with a road trip to Belleville to take on the Loyalist Lancers.  The Wolves were looking to keep their momentum going after 2 straight wins over George Brown and St. Lawrence.  2nd year stiker Jordan Blades-McHenry had her best game of the season scoring a hat trick while helping lead her team to a 7-0 win.  After winning OCAA Rookie of the Year honours in 2022, Jordan was sidelined to start the 2023 campaign as she was recoving from an injury suffered in March.  It seems as though she is rounding into form at the right time.  Algonquin finishes the regular season on the road at Centennial on Sunday before turning their attention to the OCAA playoffs.

WEEK 4 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 25TH TO OCTOBER 1ST) 

The Wolves women's rugby 7's team hosted the St. Lawrence Surge, Fleming Phoenix and Loyalist Lancers at Twin Elm Rugby Park for the 3rd tournament of the OCAA season.  This was a big weekend for Algonquin with one of their only two losses coming at the hands of the Surge in the 1st tournament of the season.  In game 1 the Wolves managed to avenge that loss with a 12-5 win thanks to a last second try and conversion.  The team kept the momentum going in game 2 against Fleming with a 17-7 win.  The third and final game of the day was a battle against the Loyalist Lancers as the teams played to a 12-12 draw.  2nd year back Elizabeth Syptak earns this weeks Athlete of the week nod thanks to her crutial try against the Lancers.  She was a consistent tackler, ball winner and most importantly a leader for the Wolves all day long.  The results from the weekend improves the teams record to 7-2-1, good for 3rd in the OCAA standings, and officially clinching a spot in the OCAA championship tournament.

WEEK 3 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 18TH TO 24TH) 

The Wolves women's soccer team hit the road for the second straight week for matchups against the Durham Lords and the Fleming Phoenix.  They ended up splitting the weekend with a 4-2 loss on Friday against Durham and a 7-0 win over Fleming.  Rookie midfielder Kassandra Da Cruz had a big weekend for the Wolves.  On Friday she scored her first career goal in the 79th minute to cut the Lords lead to 2.  On Saturday she follwed it up with another string performance adding another goal in the 84th minute to help her team secure the win.  The team currently sits in 6th place in the OCAA East standings.  They have two big games at home this weekend as they welcome the undefeated Seneca Sting on Friday and the 5th place George Brown Huskies on Saturday.

WEEK 2 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 11TH TO 17TH) 

The Wolves women's Rugby 7's team kicked off their season this past weekend in Belleville.  The team got off to a solid start going 2-1 on the day which currently has them sitting in 4th on the OCAA standings.  1st year back Doriane Jean-Paul had a impressive debut for the Wolves.  She finished the weekend with 7 tries helping lead her team to wins over the Fleming Phoenix and the Loyalist Lancers.  After 1 weekend she leads the league in tries and is 2nd on the list in scoring.  The team is back in action this weekend in Oshawa for a 2 day tournament hosted by the Durham Lords. 

 

WEEK 1 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 3RD TO 10TH) 

The Wolves kicked off the 2023 OCAA soccer season with a pair of home games against the Sault Cougars and the Cambrian Golden Shield on September 9th and 10th.  5th year senior Makayla Pearl had a big weekend for the Wolves.  On Saturday she lead her team with 4 goals on route to an 11-0 win.  The Wovles midfielder would add another on Sunday in a 4-3 loss to Cambrian.  After a big weekend, Makayla currently leads the OCAA in scoring with 5 goals.  The Wolves are looking ahead to a rematch with Cambrian this Sunday in Sudbury.

2022-23 SEASON

 

WEEK 21 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEBRUARY 27TH TO MARCH 5TH)

The final Wolves Athlete of the Week nomination goes to Libby Hirst from our women's basketball team!  The Wolves were in Welland Ontario this past weekend for the OCAA Provincial Championships hosted by Niagara College.  On Thursday night Libby was named an OCAA East 1st team All-Star after averaging a near double double with 9.6 points and 11.1 rebounds.  On Friday Hirst was named player of the game after leading her team to a 63-53 win over Niagara.  She had 15 pts and 9 boards on the night.  The Wolves moved on to the 1/2 final against the Lambton Lions.  #11 put together another solid game with 9 pts and 13 rebounds, but it was not enough as Algonquin fell 53-38.  On Sunday the team took on the Fanshawe Falcons in the bronze medal game.  Libby finished with a 10 point, 11 board double double and the Wolves came away with a 56-52 win and the bronze medal.

WEEK 20 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 20TH TO 26TH)

The Wolves women's basketball team took on the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday with a spot in the OCAA Provincial Championship tournament on the line.  After a tight first quarter the Wolves pulled away earning a 69-53 win.  2nd year guard Dasia McDonald had another big game finishing as the games leading scorer, rebounder, and in assists with 13, 11, and 6.  Her performance earned her OCAA star of the week honours.  Algonquin moves on to the provincial championships this weekend.  They will take on the host Niagara Knights on Friday night at 6:00 PM.  The winner will earn a spot in the semi-final on Saturday and the medal round on Sunday.

WEEK 19 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 13TH T0 19TH)

The Wolves women's basketball team played their final regular season game on Saturday February 18th.  Algonquin went into the game with a perfect 13-0 record, they would take on the 2nd place Durham Lords who's only loss of the season came at the hands of the Wolves back in late November.  The game was close throughout, but a huge 4th quarter from the home team gave the Wolves a 63-43 win and an undefeated regular season.  3rd year forward Jade Lyons had a big game leading all scorers with 14 points and collecting 3 rebounds while shooting a perfect 4/4 from the line.  The Wolves will now take on the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday in the OCAA qualifying game with the winner moving on to the Provincial Championships hosted by Niagara College.  Tip-off is at 2 PM at the ARC, come out and support your Wolves!

WEEK 18 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (FEB 6TH TO 12TH) 

On Saturday February 11th the Wolves women's basketball team took on the George Brown Huskies in front of a solid home crowd at the ARC.  The Wolves were looking for their 13th win on the year in as many games.  2nd year guard Dasia McDonald got off to a hot start in the contest scoring 9 of her teams 20 1st quarter points.  The Ottawa native finished with a game high 18 points while collecting 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals on route to a 57-46 win.  With this performance Dasia earns her 3rd Wolves Athlete of the Week nomination.  The Wolves will be looking to finish off the season undefeated on Saturday when they take on the 2nd place Durham Lords at 4:00 PM at the ARC.

WEEK 17 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 30TH TO FEB 5TH)

Our Wolves volleyball teams played their final home games of the regular season this weekend.  The Georgian Grizzlies and Canadore Panthers came to town, two big matchups for the Wolves who are hoping to move up the standings into a position to host a first round playoff game.  On Friday night Algonquin managed to come away with a 3 set victory.  Newcomer Natasha Lauzon had a solid performance collecting 5 kills and 8 points.  On Saturday against Canadore Natasha had a dominant performance with 10 kills and 14 points in a 4 set Algonquin win.  The team with travel to George Brown and Centennial this weekend to close out the regular season.

WEEK 16 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 23RD TO 29TH)

On Saturday January 28th the women's basketball team took on the Centennial Colts at the ARC.  The squad last played at home on November 18th, so Wolves fans were excited to finally have a chance to watch their team play.  The Wolves remained undefeated after a 67-46 win over the Colts.  Dasia McDonald was up to her old tricks stuffing the stats sheet with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 assists.  Dasia currently leads the OCAA in steals averaging 5.4 per game.    The team will take their undefeated 10-0 record on the road this weekend against the Seneca Sting and Georgian Grizzlies.

 WEEK 15 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 16TH TO 22ND) 

After not playing a game since November 25th, our nationally ranked women's basketball team was finally back in action this past weekend on the road at Loyalist and St. Lawrence.  2nd year forward Libby Hirst has been a bright spot for the Wolves all season long and this weekend was no different.  On Friday night at Loyalist she finished with 13 points and 14 boards in 32 minutes of action.  Libby followed up her performance with another double double collecting 18 points and 11 rebounds against the Surge.  She currently sits 3rd overall in the OCAA in rebounds per game.  The Wolves picked up 2 wins and remain undefeated in regular season play.  The will be back in action at home on Saturday at 4:00 PM when they take on the Centennial Colts. 

 

WEEK 14 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (JAN 9TH TO 15TH)

After a long holiday break the Wolves women’s volleyball team was finally back in action on Saturday January 14th.  The team travelled down to Peterborough for their 2nd matchup against the Fleming Knights.  The Wolves dominated in a straight sets victory, thanks in large part to the stellar passing game from 4th year Libero Emilie Menard.  The Cornwall native also had a strong defensive game collecting 5 digs.  The Win improves Algonquin’s record to 7-4 going into a big weekend against the Seneca Sting and Loyalist Lancers.  Make sure you come out to the ARC this weekend and cheer on your Wolves!

WEEK 13 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 28TH TO DEC 4TH) 

The final Wolves atlhete of the week award of 2022 goes to Tia Perkins of the women's volleyball team!  The Wolves took on the Centennial Colts in their final game of the 1st semester on Saturday.  Algonquin cruised to a 3 set win, taking the 1st set 25-10, the 2nd 25-11 and the 3rd 25-18.  The 2nd year Left Side from Akwesasne, ON had one of her best games of the season. She led the team in digs with 12 while also adding 5 kills.  With the win the Wolves finish the 1st semester with a 6-4 record, good for 5th in the OCAA East.  The team also snuck in to the 10th spot in the OCAA rankings, which includes both the East and West division.  Algonquin will be back in OCAA action on January 14th in Peterborough when they take on the Fleming Knights.

WEEK 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 21ST TO 26TH) 

Dasia McDonald from the women's basketball team is the week 12 athlete of the week! On Friday November 25th the Wolves traveled to Oshawa to take on the Durham Lords in their final game of the 1st semester.  The team would face their toughest test yet with both squads going into the game with undefeated records.  McDonald stepped up in a big way for the Wolves.  The 2nd year guard finished with 24 points on 7-11 from the field, 2-2 from the 3 point line, and 8 for 8 from the free throw line.  She also added 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals to the stat sheet.  With the win the Wolves finish the 1st semester with a 7-0 record, good for 1st place in the OCAA East division.  The team is currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA rankings and 8th in the CCAA national rankings.  Algonquin will be back in action on January 20th in Belleville when they take on the Loyalist Lancers.

WEEK 11 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 14TH TO 20TH) 

Kieran Raymo from our women's volleyball team is the week 11 athlete of the week!  The Wolves traveled to North Bay on Saturday for a matchup with the Canadore Panthers.  Canadore went into the game with a 4-1 record, good for 2nd in the OCAA East standings.  The Wolves would eventually fall to the Panthers 3-1, however Raymo was a bright spot for the team registering 9 digs, 3 assists and a 2.10 serve efficiency rating.  Algonquin will look to bounce back this weekend at home when they take on the Fleming Knights.

WEEK 10 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (NOV 7TH TO 13TH)

Libby Hirst from our women's basketball team is the Week 10 athlete of the week!  The Wolves took their first regular season road trip of the season with hopes of maintaining their undefeated record against the George Brown Huskies and Centennial Colts.  On Friday night against the Huskies, 2nd year forward Libby Hirst stuffed the stat sheet with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists while shooting an efficient 69% from the floor.  Libby's performance helped the Wolves earn a 102-55 win.  Thanks to her performance, Hirst also earned OCAA Star of the Week honours.  Through 5 games this season, Libby sits in 2nd place in the entire OCAA in rebounds per game averaging 11.4.  The team picked up a 2nd road win in as many days against the Colts, improving their record to 5-0 on the year.

WEEK 9 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 31ST TO NOV 6TH) 

Kristen Hacker from our women's volleyball team is the week 9 athlete of the week!  After starting the season 2-1, the Wolves hit the road for their 4th and 5th road games of the season against the Seneca Sting and the Georgian Grizzlies.  On Friday against the Sting #4 had an excellent serving game generating 14 points off serve including 5 aces.  Hacker also added 5 kills and 2 blocks to finish with 12 points.  Despite the loss, the rookie right side had an impressive performance.  The Wolves would bounce back on Saturday to take a 3-0 win over the Georgian Grizzlies.

WEEK 8 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 24TH TO 30TH)

Faith Billaney from the Wolves women's volleyball team is the week 8 athlete of the week!  After a 1-1 start to the season, the Wolves took a trip to the east end of Ottawa to take on cross-town rival La Cité on Saturday October 29th.  The team cruised to a 3 set win, thanks in large part to a big performance by Billaney.  The 2nd year player from Boissevain Manitoba finished the game with an impressive 11 kills, 2 aces and 1 block.  #7 also added some stellar defensive plays.  The Wolves will look to carry the momentum from Saturday's win into next weekend when they will hit the road again for matchups with the Seneca Sting and the Georgian Grizzlies.

WEEK 7 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 17TH TO 23RD) 

Dana Schaffner is the Wolves week 7 athlete of the week!  Dana took over the starting goal keeper role for the final 3 games of the regular season.  The 1st year player has done a fenominal job in net which has helped the team finish the regular season on a 3 game winning streak, earning them the 2nd seed in the OCAA East division.  On Saturday October 22nd the Wolves took on the Fanshawe Falcons in the 1st round of the OCAA playoffs.  Dana played a key role in a 2-1 Wolves win as she came up with 8 saves including some key stops to help maintain the lead.  Thanks to the win the Wolves will now head to Oshawa to take part in the OCAA championship.  They will take on the Niagara Knights on Thursday October 27th at 10:00 AM at Durham College in the 1/4 finals.

WEEK 6 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 10TH TO 16TH)

Lisa Hartill is the Wolves week 6 athlete of the week!  After spending most of the season as the teams starting keeper, Lisa was forced into a new role due to injuries to a few key players.  On Wednesday October 12th, the 2nd year player exploded for 3 goals to help lead the Wolves to an 8-0 win over the Fleming Kinghts.  On Saturday October 15th, #15 continued her strong play and was a big part in the Wolves pulling off the 3-1 upset win over the Durham Lords.

WEEK 5 ATLHETE OF THE WEEK (OCT 3RD TO OCT 9TH) 

Olivia Lambert is the Wolves week 5 athlete of the week!  With a number of key players out on Saturday, Olivia played a big role in the Wolves 3-0 victory over the Sault Cougars.  The 1st year player took over the captain duties for the game and did a great job leading a young and short handed squad.  #2 scored her 1st goal of the season in the 52nd minute to break a 0-0 tie.  Thanks to her leadership and key play, Olivia Lambert earns week 5 athlete of the week honours!

WEEK 4 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 26TH TO OCT 2ND)

For the 2nd time this season Jordan Blades-McHenry will receive Wolves athlete of the week honours.  The women's soccer team travelled to Toronto this past weekend for matchups with the George Brown Huskies and Seneca Sting.  On Friday vs George Brown with the Wolves down 1-0, the 1st year striker scored the equalizer in the 67th minute.  Jordan also added an assist on the Wolves 3rd goal of the game and scored the teams 4th goal in the 85th minute to help the Wolves cruise to a 4-1 win.  #10 has found the back of the net 9 times this season, which has her in 2nd place on the OCAA scoring leaderboard.

WEEK 3 ATLHETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 19TH TO 25TH) 

It was a slow week for our our teams, so we are throwing it back to a strong week 2 performance by Sydney Seymour from our women's Rugby team.  The 2nd year Back from Cornwall, ON had a impressive 1st tournament scoring 2 tries and 8 converts over 6 games in tournament 1.  Sydney was a big part of the reason the Wolves finished with a 3-2-1 record, good for 4th place in the OCAA.  The team is back in action this weekend in Oshawa for tournament #2! 

 

WEEK 2 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 12TH TO 18TH) 

Makayla had an impressive week offensively for the Wolves.  On Thursday September 15th she led the way with a hat trick on route to a 8-0 Wolves win on the road against the St. Lawrence Surge.  On Saturday September 17th the Wolves #16 followed up her stellar performance with an even better one, stuffing the stat sheet with 3 goals and 1 assist, all of which came in the second half.  Her impressive week helped the team improve their record to 4-0-1, good for 1st place in the OCAA East division.  Makayla's performance earns her week 2 Athlete of the Week honours.

WEEK 1 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (SEPT 5TH TO 11TH 2022)

Jordan had a stellar start to her OCAA career this past weekend.  On September 10th, the rookie Striker netted both goals in a 2-2 tie against the Cambrian Golden Shield.  The Wolves #10 followed up her game 1 performance with an even more impressive one, scoring a hat trick in a 5-0 win against the Sault Cougars.  Jordan’s week 1 performance earns her week 1 Athlete of the Week honours.
